Tayona’s primary clinical interest is trauma, particularly domestic abuse and intimate partner violence, first responders and military members and their families, and survivors of natural and man-made disasters. Additional clinical interests include identity development, depression, and queer and trans experiences.
Tayona is interested in supporting adolescents, emerging adults, and members of marginalized communities through life stressors by implementing strong supports within a collaborative therapeutic relationship. Guided by the Gestalt principle that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts, Tayona is committed to the achievement of an optimal definition of health through a holistic understanding of each client and their needs in pursuit of their goals.
She utilizes an integrative approach drawing from narrative, humanistic, feminist, Gestalt, and cognitive behavioral therapies to provide meaningful and intentional support.
Outside of her academic and clinical work, Tayona enjoys engaging in various modalities of fitness, including strength training, cycling, running, and hiking. She also dedicates time to being with her two cats, cooking, traveling, attending concerts, reading, and listening to true crime podcasts.
