Nick takes a holistic approach to counseling, borrowing techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Humanistic approaches. His guiding belief is that the patient ultimately has the answers, and it is the role of the therapist to collaborate with the patient in locating those answers within themselves.
His experience stretches across the full lifespan – from children with autism to patients in hospice care. His interests include difficult life transitions, interpersonal communication, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, and more. Irrespective of the patient’s presenting concerns, Nick places a strong emphasis on building trust and maintaining cultural humility.
Outside of counseling, Nick enjoys birdwatching, soccer, essay writing, public transportation, reading long books, and taking even longer walks. He also spends a significant portion of each night dreaming of the day when Gunnar Henderson drags the Orioles to their first World Series in his lifetime.
