Frequently Asked Questions

about Telehealth Appointments

Questions about Appointments

What is telehealth?

Telehealth is a secure method of providing treatment to patients through an online video conferencing system. It works similarly to Apple's FaceTime or Microsoft's Skype.

What telehealth services are offered?

We offer two different telehealth services. Telepsychiatry provides medical treatment with one of our psychiatric nurse practitioners (PNP) just like you would attend your appointment in the office. The PNP will complete the medical assessment and send your prescriptions to your pharmacy electronically. Teletherapy provides therapy services to all current patients. Similar to medical appointments, you can attend your therapy sessions with your therapist online.

Is telehealth secure? Is my information private?

We use Zoom Healthcare for our online video conferencing platform. Zoom Healthcare is a HIPAA-compliant system that encrypts the video feed. Therefore, if anyone tried to hack the server, they would not see or hear any part of the session.

How do I get in the Telehealth Program?

You should talk with your provider(s) about the Telehealth Program to see if it is the right fit for you. Telehealth isn't always the best option for each patient. Patient family situation, home life, diagnosis, and symptoms are things that we consider before setting up telehealth appointments.

Can I get an emergency appointment via telehealth?

Yes, if you are a current patient, you can get an emergency appointment during our normal business hours via telehealth. However, you may not be able to talk to your provider because s/he may be seeing other patients. However, most times, we can accommodate emergency appointments within 0-3 hours.

Due to COVID-19, we are expanding our Telehealth Program. Please visit our Coronavirus Response page to get more information about requesting a telehealth session if you are a current patient.

Questions about Costs and Fees

Does my insurance cover telehealth?

Yes, all insurance carriers that we accept reimburse for telehealth. Nothing changes about your insurance coverage for this service. You still have to meet your deductible and pay your copay. Using telehealth only changes how we receive treatment. It doesn't change the cost of treatment or the length of treatment.

Are there additional costs for the program?

No. You still have to meet your deductible and pay your copay. Using telehealth only changes how we receive treatment. It doesn't change the cost of treatment or the length of treatment.
