Medical Director

Temitope Williams is the Medical Director at the Institute For Healing. Affectionately known as "Nurse Temi," she is a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner and a family nurse practitioner with over 15 years of experience in the nursing profession. Nurse Temi uses a holistic approach considering other factors such as physical, mental, and social factors when treating and managing her clients' conditions. She believes the care she provides must be culturally competent and patient centered. Her areas of interest include Patient Advocacy and Partnership, Social Minority Issues, Education, Mentorship, and Case Management.

She completed her Bachelors of Science in nursing at Towson University and her Master of Science degree at the University of Maryland in family nurse practitioner.

As a family nurse practitioner, Nurse Temi noticed that individuals with mental illnesses were misrepresented and underserved. Hence, a passion to contribute to and advocate for mental health developed. She then sought her masters in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Certification at the George Washington University.

Nurse Temi has experience working with children as young as 3 years old, teenagers, adults, and the elderly. Her specialties include, but are not limited to medication management, diagnostic evaluations, mood disorders, ADHD, depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and office based treatments including suboxone and vivtrol injections for substance abuse. She is also certified to prescribe medical marijuana in the State of Maryland.

In her spare time, she loves to cook, read, write songs and stories, and run. She is a Member of American Nursing Association and American Academy of Home Care Medicine.

She describes serving individuals with mental illness as a joy and often comments about how much she enjoys talking with and listening to her clients. Building a therapeutic alliance is the core of her provider-patient relationship.
